Progress medal winners

Once every four months, all Saturn V gymnasts put on a class display and parents are invited. The purpose of this is to give parents the opportunity to see how their children are progressing and for children to have the experience of performing in front of an audience. Wednesday 5.00: Lucy Smith
Wednesday 6.00: Claudia Foley
Friday 5.00: Asha James

Recent Competitions

Acro and Tumbling Competition

On March 10th we held the inter club sports acro and tumbling competition at the Keys Centre in Horley.
The gymnasts, whose ages ranged  from 7 to 15, all performed in front of a panel of judges, an exacting routine of 10 elements with a partner. They also performed 3 tumble runs. Medals were awarded for 3rd, 2nd and 1st places in all categories. The competition inspired some exceptional performances and produced some very proud parents. Pictured here are all the medal winners.
The competition concluded with a spectacular gym and dance display. This was performed by the gymnasts from the Horley branch of Saturn V who train at Oakwood sports centre. Club chairman, Paul Kaye said that the the Oakwood coaches; Stacey Rodd and Tanya Richardson had done a wonderful job of devising and choreographing the display routine which was based on High School Musical.

New venue for Trampoline Competitions

Children from Horley, Caterham, Oxted, Reigate, Selsdon and Warlingham all converged on the new sports hall at Moor House School, Hurst Green which provided an excellent location for the gymnasts to display their progress. A feature of the sports hall is an impressive viewing gallery for parents and relatives to proudly look on at their childrens’ success. The move of venue for the quarterly competitions is part of a long term development plan for trampolining competitions in East Surrey. Moor House sports development co-ordinator, Danny Carroll said, “Since receiving Lottery funding through the ‘Sports for All’ scheme, Moor House School and Saturn V have established a joint venture to offer expert Trampoline coaching to both children with special educational needs and those within the local community. The aim is to establish Saturn V at Moor House as the recognized centre for competitions for both mainstream and special schools in Surrey.” Gold medals at Saturday’s competition were achieved at five different Winstrada grade levels including a synchro display.  Nine year old Robyn Lafferty took gold from the grade eight competitors, and Leah Casey, 10, followed up the gold success on grade nine, with Rosie Fuller, also 10, and Ellie Gauge, 13, following close behind, each being awarded silver and bronze respectively. At grade ten Felicity Gibbs, 15, proved that hard work pays off by achieving her first gold medal at the competition, having trained at Saturn V’s Rebound Hall in Caterham for many years and entered in several previous events held by the club.Abigail Barker, 10, and Victoria Ballard, 9, joined her on the podium to receive their silver and bronze medals at that level.Eleven year old Leila Mani-Lundie gave the crowd a highly technical display at the advanced grades level to take gold with a very impressive score of 19.1, and Ellie Gauge added to her medals tally with a synchro display alongside her ten year old brother Dexter which was deemed worthy of a gold medal by the judges.  Silver was awarded to Sarah Gordon, 14, and Stephanie Vance, 13.
