A different format for the E-mail newsletter

Welcome to the club's second e-mail newsletter. The first one in May was sent in Word format which some of you were not able to open; either because you have Macs or do not have Word. So this time we are trying it in HTML format.
Please let us have your feedback. Did it open up OK? Was it quicker to download than the Word document? Any other comments?
Don't forget, we would like to invite you to contribute to future newsletters. You are part of the UK’s largest gymnastic and trampolining club with 1600 members and 25 coaches. The club has branches in Caterham, Oxted, Warlingham, Reigate and Horley.

If you have something you would like to say to all these members, or if you have something to ask which would be of interest to the members, send us an e-mail. If there is a member of the Saturn V staff you would like to praise, or even complain about; let us know.

If you have something to sell which would be of interest to other members; tell us.

Summer is coming

And we are putting on 2 Fundays, 3 Trampoline Mega Sessions and 4 Kindergym Funtimes. What are all those?
Fundays are a day of games and activities based around Gymnastics and Trampolining. The Fundays are held at the Keys Centre in Horley. Children living in or around Caterham, meet at the Rebound Hall in William Road at 9.30 in the morning and travel by coach to Horley. They return exhausted to William Road at 4.30pm. All seats on the coach have seat belts and the children are supervised at all times by adult staff. There is a half hour supervised lunchbreak, so you will need to bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink. (Non fizzy is best.)
Cost is £13.50. Children living in or around Horley can make their own way to and from the Keys Centre for the Funday and they pay a reduced fee of £10.50 as they are not using the coach. Times for those making their own way are 11.00am to 3.00pm. Minimum age for the Fundays is 4½.
Trampoline Mega Sessions are two-hour trampoline classes held at the William Road Rebound Hall. Minimum age for these is 6 years. Cost is £6.60.
Kindergym Funtimes are 1 hour long Gymnastic and Trampoline classes held during school holidays for pre-school age children and their older siblings. Minimum age is 2½. Cost is £4

Inter club Trampoline competition

Gymnastic DisplayThe inter-club trampoline competition held at the Keys Centre on 15th May was so popular (and oversubscribed) that from 2005, we plan to run three a year instead of the current two.
The standard of routines at the competition was extremely high and we were very pleased that so many of you were keen to compete for the first time. Pictured here are the medal winners. Well done to all; medal winners or not.

Inter club Sports Acro competition

The inter club sports Acro competition, held on 12th June, also at the Keys Centre produced some stunningly polished routines.
Hannah Andrew, Nicole Fagan, Lauren Dimery, Grace Dimery, Georgina Donovan, Kayleigh Donovan and Stacy Rodd are now going on to compete in the regional sports acro comp in Brighton on 18th July.
Pictured here are some of the medal winners from the inter club comp: Stacy Rodd, Rebecca Connor and Kayleigh Donovan.

South East Regional Trampoline competition

The trampoline squad, under Maria Holmes's direction, entered 10 trampolinists for the South East trampoline championships held in Gillingham on Sunday 13th June.
331 trampolinists from clubs all over the region competed in various categories.
As usual, the Saturn V children performed magnificently. All scored highly, achieving places in the upper set in their category. Three achieved trophies: a gold, a silver and a bronze.
Anthony Brown (11) from Whyteleafe won the gold trophy for first place in the Under 13 Boys Grade 5 category. What is even more remarkable is that this was Anthony’s first ever regional competition.
Pictured here after a very successful competition are, from left to right: Anthony Brown (11), Sammie Edwards (13), Rebecca Bownas (14) and Charlotte Holmes (12).

Profile on Vicky Patient

Vicky has been a trampoline coach with Saturn V for 3 years. Her regular coaching posts are at the Keys Centre branch on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday mornings. Vicky is a very popular coach with the children and she has twice achieved the highest score in the members' satisfaction survey.

Winner of the June prize draw was 4 year old Amy Thornhill. Amy attends a Kindergym class at William Road and wins (for her parents) a 3 course meal for two with a bottle of wine, courtesy of the Horshoe Country Carvery in Warlingham. The prize draw is included with the Members’ satisfaction survey.
The next draw will be held on the 1st October.

Your Questions and Comments

Just to let you know the newsletter was fine. Took a bit of time to download but not too much, pictures looked good.
As a suggestion  could you mention what Mega sessions, fun days, and inter club competitions mean and who is allowed/invited to attend for us parents who aren't really in the know?
We enjoyed the competiton on Sat.  Suggestion from my son, sitting watching his sister, was that could drinks be sold from a cool bag 'cause they were very hot.
Oh and by the way thanks for giving our kids enjoyable activities with plenty of exercise.

No more bits of paper to get lost! Definately the way forward!

If you have any suggestions to make which you feel would improve the running of the club, please let us know. If you have any comments, good or bad, about any of our classes we would like to hear these also.

Please E-mail us at saturnvuk@hotmail.com
